§ 55. Mr. J. Johnsonasked the Minister of Agriculture how many grain driers were in operation in 1949; how many have been built in 1950; and how many are planned for 1951.
Mr. T. WilliamsIn 1949, 1,340 grain driers were in operation on farms in the U.K.; 290 were built in 1950, and it is expected that about another 290 will be built in 1951. In addition, there are 30 grain driers of larger capacity operated by the Ministry of Food, who expect to have a further six plants in operation in 1951. There is also a considerable number of grain driers operated by merchants and ultimate users of grain.
§ Mr. JohnsonIs my right hon. Friend aware that the more of these driers that can be built, the better we should like it, particularly in the Midlands, where we have such lovely English summers?
