§ Mr. Ernest DaviesFour British ships have been intercepted by the Nationalists since June of this year and three attacked. After protests to the provincial authorities by His Majesty's Consul at Tamsui all have been released. On 18th September the s.s. "Caduceus" was released together with the British master and officers and crew, with the exception of 12 Chinese who were tried and convicted of offences under the law in force in Formosa.
