§ 35. Lieut.-Colonel Liptonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to receive the report of the Working Party on Hackney Carriage Law.
§ Mr. EdeI asked the Working Party at the end of 1949 to give priority to the question of limiting the number of drivers and cabs in the Metropolitan Police district. I understand that they hope to let me have this interim report shortly.
§ Lieut.-Colonel LiptonIn view of the continued and growing dissatisfaction of owners and drivers of cabs in the London area, will the Home Secretary give an assurance that as soon as this report is forthcoming he will take some action on it?
§ Mr. EdeThe Working Party consists of representatives of the owners and drivers to whom the hon. and gallant Member has referred. I shall be only too happy to consider the report if they will get on with the job.
