HC Deb 24 April 1950 vol 474 c590
66. Sir Austen Hudson

asked the Minister of Works whether it is intended to replace the turrets on the top of the Victoria Tower; and when the work on the tower will be completed and the scaffolding removed.

Mr. Stokes

Yes, Sir. The erection of the scaffolding should be completed by October, 1950, and the turrets will be replaced by March, 1951. The scaffolding will still be required for the restoration of the stonework of the Tower and for repairs to the roof and the flagmast. The time this work will take will depend on the money which can be made available each year.
