asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement about the circumstances under which Mr. McNamee has been arrested in Malaya and refused permission to return to his rubber estate.

Mr. Cook

I have asked the High Commissioner for a report on this matter and I will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as I have received it.

Mr. Gammans

Can the hon. Gentleman say for what purpose and under what charge he has been arrested?

Mr. Cook

I would rather wait until we see the report from the Governor.
