§ 25. Mr. H. Hyndasked the Minister of Labour if he can now give the result of his further efforts to reach agreement with theBanque Belge pour l'Etrangeron the question of recognition of the National Union of Bank Employees as representing the majority of their staff.
§ The Minister of Labour (Mr. Isaacs)Since my hon. Friend's previous Question on this subject, I have had correspondence with the bank, which I am considering. At the moment, I am not able to say whether there is any further action which I can usefully take.
§ Mr. Godfrey NicholsonIs there any way in which the right hon. Gentleman can see that foreign concerns in this country give conditions of employment comparable to those of British concerns?
§ Mr. IsaacsI do not think that question arises. So far as I am aware, the question in this case is not one of wages and conditions but of recognition of the trade union membership of the staff.
