HC Deb 06 April 1950 vol 473 cc1337-8
11. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has now considered the need for the formation of a pottery industrial development council; the terms upon which it would function; its composition; and when it is proposed that it should hold its first meeting.

The President of the Board of Trade (Mr. Harold Wilson)

I am still not in a position to make any statement about this matter.

Mr. Ellis Smith

Is my right hon. Friend aware that this will cause great disappointment among the members of the National Society of Pottery Workers? If he cannot take steps to set up such a council, will he consider calling together the whole industry with a view to considering what further steps can be taken to improve the present position?

Mr. Wilson

Yes, Sir. I hope to be able to take action in this matter soon.
