HC Deb 06 April 1950 vol 473 c1335
6. Major Howard Johnson

asked the Minister of Education whether he is aware that a female school teacher who, after service in excess of 20 years, is forced to resign due to the need to look after her aged and infirm dependants, forfeits all right to a pension; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy this hardship.

Mr. Tomlinson

The conditions under which teachers may qualify for pension are laid down in the Teachers' Superannuation Acts and could be altered only by further legislation. If the hon. and gallant Member will inform me of the name of the teacher in question, I will have her case examined and will write to him.
