HC Deb 04 April 1950 vol 473 c983
15. Brigadier Prior-Palmer

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will now look into the question of payment by officers and senior non-commissioned officers in the African Forces of British rates of Income Tax on their pay.

Mr. Strachey

I am already looking into this question and will write to the hon. and gallant Member in due course.

Brigadier Prior-Palmer

While the Secretary of State is looking into it, will he realise that this affects not only British officers going out from the British Isles, but also officers who have lived all their lives in these Colonies and have never been home to England?

Mr. Strachey

I appreciate that point, and it is an important one. I will certainly take it into account.
