asked the Minister of Defence what progress is being made in the provision of married quarters for Service personnel overseas; and when does he anticipate that requirements will be met.

Mr. Alexander

Since the end of the war more than 1,800 married quarters have been made available for Service personnel overseas, excluding Germany and Austria. The full requirement for married quarters cannot be stated since this must vary with the final disposition of forces.

Mr. Lipson

Is the provision of married quarters likely to be affected by any cuts in Defence expenditure?

Mr. Alexander

I hope not, at any rate, not to any serious extent.
