17. Air-Commodore Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many British service personnel, together with other nationals, have lost their lives in Malaya since 1st July, 1949.

Mr. Creech Jones

Ten European, ten Gurkha and four Malay members of the ground forces and six R.A.F. personnel lost their lives in Malaya from 1st July to 20th October, inclusive. Accidental deaths are included in these figures. During the same period 106 civilians, 33 police and 187 bandits were killed.
