Mr. Hurdasked the Minister of Food the values of the fancy cheeses imported from dollar and non-dollar sources in the six months ended 30th September; and the values of the Stilton and other cheeses made in the United Kingdom which were exported during this period to dollar and non-dollar countries.
§ Mr. StracheySome £3 million worth of non-ration cheeses—which is, I take it, what the hon. Member has in mind—all from Europe, was imported during the six months ended 30th September, 1949. No cheeses of this kind were imported from dollar sources. The only commercial exports of home-produced cheese licensed during this period were £3,800 worth of Stilton, all for dollar destinations.
