§ 12. Sir W. Smithersasked the Minister of National Insurance what is the present position of the original insurance funds taken over by the terms of the National Insurance Act; and how much of them has been applied to extraneous purposes.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsI would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to him on 1st February last, a copy of which I am sending him. The position as stated then remains unchanged.
§ Sir W. SmithersWill the Minister give an assurance that none of these funds has been used to implement Socialist theories or to uphold tottering Socialist policy; and will he say how much of this money is invested in "Dalton two-and-a-halfs"?
§ Mr. GriffithsThe position is that so far the scheme is working under its own steam and it has not been necessary to touch a single penny of the money we took over in 1948.
