§ 38. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Education when he proposes to put into effect the plans for helping teachers who are working in America under the Exchange of Teachers Scheme, in view of their financial difficulties.
§ Mr. TomlinsonIn order to meet the possible difficulties of these teachers an instalment of £50 of the normal Goverment grant has already been paid to each of them and a further instalment is being paid. Special payments to meet the situation caused by the change in the sterling-dollar rate will, as I told the hon. and gallant Member for Middleton and Prestwich (Major Gates) on 27th October last, be made when inquiries have been completed as to how much of their funds the teachers had already converted into dollars before revaluation took place.
