HC Deb 21 November 1949 vol 470 c35
65. Mr. Keeling

asked the Minister of Works whether he will put in the Library a plan of the new layout of Parliament Square proposed in the Parliament Square (Improvements) Bill.

Mr. Key

Yes, Sir. A plan of the new layout of Parliament Square has been placed in the Library this morning.

Mr. Keeling

Is the Minister aware that the lettering on this plan is so faint that even with a magnifying glass it is impossible to understand it; and will he have another go before the Debate on Wednesday?

Mr. Key

I will see if that can be done. I have seen the plan myself, and although my eyesight is not of the best I was able to read it.

Mr. Skeffington-Lodge

Is my right hon. Friend not aware that the Parliament Square (Improvements) Bill itself would have been made more intelligible for Members if a small sketch plan had been included in it; and on future occasions, in cases like this, will he try to include such a sketch plan?

Mr. Key

I am afraid that is a function which does not fall to me.
