§ The Attorney-General (Sir Hartley Shawcross)My noble Friend has decided to appoint Sir William Fitzgerald, Chief Justice of Palestine from 1944 to 1948, to be the President of the Lands Tribunal, and Mr. J. P. C. Done, F.R.I.C.S., Mr. J. L. Milne, F.R.I.C.S., and Mr. F. Webster, a member of the Local Government Boundary Commission, to be. the first 'members of the Tribunal.
§ Mr. Emrys RobertsWill the right hon. and learned Gentleman represent to the Lord Chancellor the desirability of appointing some Welsh-speaking persons as members of this tribunal in order that they may be able to deal, under Section 3 of the Act, with cases arising in Wales? That has been done in the past.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe professional members of the tribunal have been appointed after consultation with the President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and it is thought that they will provide the technical knowledge which will enable them to deal appropriately with cases arising under that Section.
§ Sir Peter MacdonaldIs it not true that Wales is a bilingual country, and why should it be necessary to have interpreters or Welsh-speaking members on any board?
