§ 16. Mr. Hurdasked the Minister of Food how far he has arranged to purchase eggs and poultry produced under the Colonial Development Corporation's scheme in the Gambia; and what quantities he expects to receive.
§ Mr. StracheyMy Department has so far made no arrangements for the purchase of either eggs or poultry from Gambia, but I understand that the Colonial Development Corporation may soon submit definite proposals to us. I am afraid that at this stage I cannot speculate on the quantities which may be bought.
§ Mr. HurdMay the House understand that the Minister is ready and willing to buy eggs and poultry products now from the Gambia, and that some good use will be made of that production in this country?
§ Mr. StracheyYes, Sir. We shall discuss prices and other matters with them, and good use will be made of the products, because they will be eaten.
