HC Deb 10 November 1949 vol 469 cc1397-8
58. Mr. J. H. Hare

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will consider introducing new regulations to enable an allocation of feedingstuffs to be made to the seriously disabled who are medically advised that they can carry out poultry keeping as an occupation.

Mr. T. Williams

I have much sympathy with the hon. Member's suggestion and when it becomes possible to revise poultry ration scales I will gladly consult with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour to see if a new category of seriously disabled persons could be created for rationing purposes on the lines suggested.

Mr. Hare

I am grateful to the right hon. Gentleman for that answer, but would he agree that it would not be a very difficult problem in view of the fact that the ex-Service man is already treated in this way? I am only asking that the civilian disabled person should be treated in the same way.

Mr. Williams

It would be rather difficult at this moment, but the matter is under constant review.

Mr. Collins

Is it not the case that disabled ex-Service men are also under certain conditions, to secure an allocation of feedingstuffs?
