HC Deb 10 November 1949 vol 469 cc1385-6
37. Mr. Skeffington-Lodge

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether in the case of ex-enemy prisoners of war working in this country as civilians, he will consider arranging for them to become naturalised after a due lapse of lime, should they desire this.

Mr. Ede

Any foreigner is eligible to apply for a certificate of naturalisation after he has fulfilled the statutory residential qualification of five years' residence. In the case of the persons referred to the period of residence will begin to run from the date of their attaining civilian status.
