24. Lieut.-Commander Clark Hutchisonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is satisfied that returning officers in Scotland will be able at the next General Election to issue official poll cards in every constituency in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 16 of the Third Schedule to the Representation of the People Act, 1948.
§ The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Woodburn)I have consulted the returning officers on this matter, and while I appreciate the practical difficulties involved, I have at present no reason to doubt that they will be overcome.
Lieut.-Commander HutchisonWould the failure to issue these cards in any constituency invalidate the election in that constituency?
§ Mr. WoodburnThat is a hypothetical question, but I do not anticipate any failure.
