HC Deb 18 May 1949 vol 465 cc412-3
23. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Postmaster-General when a service will be inaugurated for the provision of television in Wales.

The Postmaster-General (Mr. Wilfred Paling)

I am sorry that I am unable to say when it will become possible to provide a television service for Wales.

Mr. Freeman

Will my right hon. Friend reconsider this matter and see if it cannot be included in his programme? Could he give us some idea when we might expect this service?

Mr. Paling

The matter is always under consideration, but I am afraid I cannot give my hon. Friend any idea.

Mr. Douglas Marshall

While considering the claims of Wales, will the right hon. Gentleman not be forgetful of Cornwall, which is also interested in this matter.
