§ 12. Mr. Lipsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the urgent need to improve the pay and other conditions of service of members of the Police Force, he can say when he hopes to receive the report of the Oaksey Committee and is it his intention to take prompt action on its findings.
§ Mr. EdeI hope to receive the report at a very early date, and, as I have already assured the House, there will be no delay on my part in considering the Committee's recommendations.
§ Mr. LipsonMay I ask my right hon. Friend, in view of the concern among members of the police forces, whether by "an early date" he meant before Easter, and whether he intends to publish the report?
§ Mr. EdeI have already said some weeks ago that I expect to receive the report before Easter, and I know of no reason for revising that estimate of when I shall receive it. Naturally, the report will be published.
