§ 45. Mr. Edelmanasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has any statement to make on the results of his recent discussions on Anglo-French economic co-operation.
§ The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Stafford Cripps)Yes, Sir. The Minister of Finance and I had a useful discussion in which we reviewed and confirmed the talks which have recently taken place between officials on various aspects of 1898 Anglo-French economic co-operation within the framework of the O.E.E.C. We noted the progress that had been achieved on several important points and agreed that the talks should be continued. We were both very satisfied with the spirit of co-operation which pervaded the talks.
§ Mr. EdelmanWhen will the details of the decisions be published? Will my right hon. and learned Friend also say whether the basic principles for making the British and French four-year plans fit together have now been settled?
§ Sir S. CrippsThere has never been any question of any basic principles having to be settled. It is a matter of fitting together two plans; that is proceeding gradually, and we hope it will be completely accomplished before long.
§ Colonel Crosthwaite-EyreDid any question arise in these discussions of granting more sterling credits to France?
§ Sir S. CrippsNone, so far as I am aware.
