HC Deb 09 March 1949 vol 462 cc1170-1
27. Sir John Mellor

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why a slip was issued by His Majesty's Stationery Office merely to correct in S.I., 1949, No. 138, the spelling of a word, where no ambiguity could arise; and what was the cost incurred.

Mr. Creech Jones

It is desirable that Statutory Instruments should be correct. The cost was 33s.

Sir J. Mellor

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the correction slip does not form part of the instrument, and has no effect whatsoever?
