§ Sir W. SmithersOn a point of Order, Mr. Speaker. As Questions were finished before half-past three, with great respect, cannot we have a second time round?
§ Mr. SpeakerWe stopped the practice of having a second round of Questions a long time ago, I am afraid.
§ Sir W. SmithersWith great respect, in the old days we always had a second time round. There is one Question which has not been asked on which I wanted to ask a supplementary question.
§ Mr. SpeakerI am afraid we altered the Standing Orders some time ago and that comes under Standing Orders.
§ Captain CrookshankWith all respect, I hesitate to question that, but I should have thought it was a matter of practice. I do not recollect a Standing Order applying to the second round. If it is only a question of the practice of the House, this is an occasion on which we could go back to the former practice.
§ Mr. SpeakerOf course I will not challenge the right hon. and gallant Member for Gainsborough (Captain Crookshank), but I know it was a recommendation of a Select Committee, of which I think the right hon. and gallant Gentleman was a member. I cannot say with absolute certainty, but I am inclined to think that it was incorporated in Standing Orders.
