asked the Minister of Agriculture the total value of timber sold for telegraph poles and for pit props, respectively, from the afforested area owned by the Commissioners of Crown Lands or the Forestry Commission, in the Bracknell, Crowthorne, Camberly, Bagshot and Ascot districts since 1945.

In the four years ended 31st December, 1948, the value of timber sold for telegraph poles from the Crown Lands Windsor Estate was £18,475. In addition, timber worth £30,746 was sold to various merchants and some of this may have been used for pit props. Between May, 1947, and May, 1949, the Forestry Commission sold about £5,000 worth of timber for pit props from the Crowthorne district.
