§ The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Herbert Morrison)I am glad to be able to tell the House that Lord Beveridge has accepted an invitation from my right hon. Friend the Postmaster-General and myself, with the concurrence of the Prime Minister, to serve as Chairman of the Committee of Inquiry into British broadcasting services. It may be for the convenience of those who wish to submit evidence to the Committee if I say that I understand from Lord Beveridge that, after a preliminary meeting at an early date, he proposes to adjourn until the autumn, when the Committee will start its work of hearing evidence.
