HC Deb 27 July 1949 vol 467 c2465
34. Mr. H. Hynd

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what compensation will be paid to the families of workers who were killed by the police in the riot of June, 1948 at the Enmore plantation, in view of the Report of the Enmore Commission, which states that firing went beyond the requirements of the situation and that many workers were shot in the back.

Mr. Rees-Williams

Actions have been filed in the Supreme Court of British Guiana claiming damages against five police constables and the question of compensation is therefore sub judice.
