HC Deb 22 July 1949 vol 467 c1704

The Chairman of Ways and Means:

I beg to move, That Standing Order 208 (Notice of consideration of Lords Amendments) be suspended until the Summer Adjournment; That, as regards Private Bills to be returned by the House of Lords with Amendments, such Amendments shall be considered at the next sitting of the House after the day on which the Bill shall have been returned from the Lords; That, when Amendments thereto are intended to be, proposed by the Promoters, a copy of such Amendments shall be deposited in the Private Bill Office and Notice thereof given not later than the day before that on which the Amendments made by the House of Lords are proposed to be taken into consideration. I hope the House will agree to this Motion, which has been passed almost every Session for the last 100 years in order to enable certain outstanding Private Bills to pass the last and remaining stage in time to receive the Royal Assent before the Summer Adjournment.

Question put, and agreed to.
