HC Deb 21 July 1949 vol 467 cc1549-50
50. Mr. William Shepherd

asked the Minister of Agriculture what recent developments there have been in the researches conducted by his Department as to the least cruel method of killing lobsters and crabs.

Mr. T. Williams

My Department has not conducted any researches into methods of killing lobsters and crabs.

Mr. Shepherd

Is the Minister's Department able to make any recommendation on this point?—as there is a great deal of difference as to what is the best method.

Mr. Williams

I am afraid I have no personal experience of slaughtering either crabs or lobsters.
