HC Deb 21 July 1949 vol 467 c1540
33. Mr. George Jeger

asked the Minister of Labour what are the figures of registered unemployed at Goole and Knottingley, Yorkshire, at the latest available date and at the equivalent date in 1938.

Mr. Ness Edwards

At 13th June, 1949, 153 at Goole and 59 at Knottingley. At 13th June, 1938, 1,006 at Goole and 614 at Knottingley.

Mr. Jeger

Is my hon. Friend aware that these excellent results of the Government's policy of full employment are stigmatised by the local Conservatives as the poisoned fruits of the Socialist Party?

Mr. Ness Edwards

I am afraid that we must draw our own conclusions; I have given the facts.
