HC Deb 20 July 1949 vol 467 c1365
42. Mr. Braddock

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what conclusion was reached by the Sachs Commission set up to investigate irregularities in the Gold Coast Customs Department with regard to the evidence presented to the earlier Martindale Commission by Mr. Franklin, Director of the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Department, and what action has been taken by the Government as a result of the Sachs Commission's report with regard to this evidence.

Mr. Creech Jones

The report of the Sachs Commission stated that the fact that a C.I.D. memorandum was compiled and placed before the Martindale Commission was not of itself improper. No action by the Gold Coast Government appears to be called for.
