HC Deb 19 July 1949 vol 467 c1203
Mr. King

I beg to move, in page 66, line 11, at the end, to add: () Subject as aforesaid, the Minister may defray or contribute towards expenditure of a local authority incurred under section (Ferries for purposes of long-distance routes) of this Act or incurred in the exercise of their powers of acquiring land, erecting buildings or carrying out work under section (Accommodation, meals and refreshments along long-distance routes) of this Act. The Committee will remember that previously we discussed briefly both the provision of ferries for purposes of long-distance routes and also the provision of accommodation, meals and refreshments. We have not come to the full discussion that may take place later when we turn to the two new Clauses on the Order Paper, but we have come to the financial provision which will be needed in both instances. The provision is that "the Minister may defray or contribute towards" both the ferries and the work under the Clause for accommodation, meals and refreshments along long-distance routes.

Amendment agreed to.

Clause, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
