§ 13. Mr. Skinnardasked the Minister of Food whether the owners of travelling shops serving new housing estates can obtain additional supplies of rationed and 948 points goods as the number of their customers increases with the completion of houses; and on what basis such supplies are allocated.
§ Mr. StracheyYes, Sir; as the population of new housing estates increases, additional allowances of rationed foods, based on the number of new registered customers, and additional points credits, based on turnover, are allowed to all shops, including travelling vans, that serve the estate.
§ Mr. SkinnardIs my right hon. Friend aware that some of the owners of these travelling vans, which perform very good service on remote estates, find great difficulty in getting a points allocation, particularly for soap?
§ Mr. StracheyI shall be very glad to look into any particular case which my hon. Friend has in mind. I am certainly totally opposed to any discrimination against travelling vans.
