HC Deb 18 July 1949 vol 467 cc957-8
34. Mr. Erroll

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the necessity of ensuring proper co-ordination between the road plans of all county councils as well as co-ordination with the long-term trunk road proposals, he will take steps to encourage all county councils to follow the example of Lancashire and publish their plans in this connection as soon as possible.

Mr. Barnes

All local planning authorities have to work out proposals for the principal traffic routes in their areas for the purposes of the development plans which, under the Town and Country Planning Acts, must be prepared within the next two years. In so doing they will consult with neighbouring planning authorities. As regards the remainder of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave him on 4th July.
