§ 2. Sir Wavell Wakefieldasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when it is proposed to start work on the building of the new hospital in George Town British Guiana, for which layout plans have been prepared.
§ Mr. Rees-WilliamsBritish Guiana's ten-year development plan does not provide for a new hospital, but for substantial additions and improvements to the present hospital. These are being 404 carried out and a new X-ray building has already been completed and equipped.
§ Sir W. WakefieldWhen will this plan be completed?
§ Mr. Rees-WilliamsThe X-ray department is provided for in the ten-year plan. I do not know exactly when it will be completed during the progress of that plan. There are also two cottage hospitals to be completed during the progress of the plan. It will be some time before 1956.
§ Sir W. WakefieldIs it not possible to expedite this work, in view of the urgent necessity for improvements to be made as soon as possible?
§ Mr. Rees-WilliamsAll steps that can be taken are being taken to deal with this and many other matters.
