HC Deb 19 January 1949 vol 460 c157
42. Mr. Pritt

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will take steps to expedite the establishment of a Court of Appeal to deal with cases in Fiji, thus avoiding such delays as that which occurred in the case of Mr. Joseph, who waited in prison for two years until the Privy Council allowed his appeal and quashed his conviction.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Creech Jones)

I have now been informed by the Governor that a draft Bill is under consideration in Fiji for the establishment of a Court of Appeal in the Colony.
