19. Mr. H. D. Hughesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what schemes have now been approved by the Colonial Development Corporation and by the Overseas Food Corporation in Colonial territories; and what consultations have taken place with the Colonial Governments concerned in each case.
Mr. Creech JonesAs they have announced, the Colonial Development Corporation have decided to undertake schemes connected with the gold and timber industries in British Guiana and with food production in the Gambia. The only scheme of the Overseas Food Corporation in Colonial territories is the groundnut project in Tanganyika. There has been full consultation with the Colonial Governments concerned in respect of all these projects.

Mr. Creech JonesThe recommendations which have been made by the Evans Commission have been referred to the local government and discussions are now proceeding between the Corporation and the Government.
