§ 17. Mr. Ernest Daviesasked the Minister of National Insurance if, for the convenience of hon. Members and civil servants, he will issue a comprehensive booklet incorporating the leaflets issued by his Department explaining the provisions and regulations of the National Insurance and National Health Acts.
§ Mr. SteeleMy right hon. Friend has it in mind to issue such booklets about the National Insurance and Industrial Injuries schemes at an appropriate time but it would be premature to do so yet. The question whether there should be a similar publication relating to the Health Service would be a matter for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health.
§ Mr. DaviesDoes not my hon. Friend think that now is the appropriate time, during the initial stages when many problems about National Insurance are arising and hon. Members are continually being asked questions by their constituents? Will he urge upon his right hon. Friend the need for such a booklet?
§ Mr. SteeleI appreciate the part about the questions because I get many questions from hon. Members every day. However, we have a very good series of leaflets dealing with these problems. A Question about a publication covering them all is rather premature because certain very important regulations have still to come before the House and, as hon. Members know, the question of hospital deductions is still under consideration.
