HC Deb 06 December 1949 vol 470 cc1688-9
19. Mrs. Jean Mann

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what requests were made by the deputation from Coatbridge Town Council, whom he received in October; and what was the outcome.

Mr. Woodburn

The deputation's request for permission to make an earlier start with the houses already authorised was agreed to. They also asked for a larger allocation of houses and were told that this would be sympathetically considered when further progress was made with houses already in hand.

21. Mrs. Mann

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how far housing progress in Coatbridge has been impeded for lack of timber during the present year and 1948; and to what extent schemes under construction at present will be held back for lack of timber.

Mr. Woodburn

Lack of timber has not impeded housing progress in Coatbridge in 1948 or 1949. So far as I can judge at present, delays are unlikely to arise from this cause in the near future.
