§ 14. Sir Patrick Hannonasked the Minister of Education if he will give an assurance that contact is being maintained between his Department and the National Association of Girls' Clubs and Mixed Clubs, and that the religious background of those clubs receives his sympathetic co-operation; and if he will give a generous response to proposals in which he can assist the cultural activities of the association in the promotion of the interest of youth in our national affairs.
§ Mr. TomlinsonI can assure the hon. Member that there is close contact between my Department and the National Association of Girls' Clubs and Mixed Clubs, and that the aims of the Association have my fullest support. My grant to this organisation is made in respect of its organisation, administration, and training, which include the activities to which the hon. Member refers.
§ Sir P. HannonDoes not the right hon. Gentleman realise the immense educational value of these clubs in the respective localities where they are to be found, and will he see that the local education authorities are encouraged to give all assistance possible in their future work?
§ Mr. TomlinsonYes, Sir, I am doing that.
§ Mr. GallacherWill the right hon. Gentleman, in connection with this religious background and cultural cooperation, see that they get to know it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of Heaven?
