Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a White Paper outlining the financial and economic consequences of the Atlantic Pact and indicating to what extent it will result in increased production of armaments and the diversion of labour and materials from the production of consumption goods, from housing and the social services.

§ Mr. HughesThe Chancellor intimated yesterday that there would be an increased burden of expenditure as a result of the Atlantic Pact. Will that involve a Supplementary Estimate, and will that not be against the policy that was outlined yesterday by the Chancellor of the Exchequer?
