§ 2. Mrs. Nicholasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made since the publication of the Curtis Report in transferring to better accommodation children living in former public assistance institutions.
§ Mr. EdeWhen the Curtis Committee reported in 1946, it was estimated that 6,500 children were living in public assistance institutions. According to the latest returns, the number of children in care under the Children Act, who are in accommodation provided under the National Assistance Act, is now about 1,600.
