Mr. Skinnardasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that in July, 1946, the Government of Tanganyika stated that it was considering the appointment of an African to the Labour Board; whether this appointment has been made; and if there are African members on the Coffee, Cotton and Economic Control Boards.
§ Mr. Rees-WilliamsThe Labour Board is now being reconstituted and an African will be appointed to it. There are two African members on the Coffee Board, but none on the Cotton Board. The Economic Control Boards no longer exist, but certain of these functions are now exercised by an Advisory Committee on Price Control of which one member is an African.
