§ Mr. H. MorrisonThe researches at Salisbury, promoted by the Medical Research Council with the co-operation of the Ministry of Health, are adding steadily to knowledge of various aspects of the common cold, though the nature of the problem is such that rapid progress cannot be expected. The fact that it has been found possible to transmit the infection to human volunteers, in some 60 per cent. of cases, by means of filtered nasal washings from people with colds strongly indicates that the cause is a virus.
