§ 57. Mr. M. MacPhersonasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will outline the programme of factory building contemplated for Scotland during the next two or three years.
§ Mr. BottomleyThe total of new factory space in Scotland still in course of construction, or approved but not yet started, amounts to nearly 12 million square feet, at an estimated cost of over £28 million. Of this 3½ million square feet (estimated cost £6.3 million) is Government financed. I cannot say what additions to this programme can be made, since it is necessary for every proposal to be examined on its merits in view of the continued need to conserve our building resources and to limit capital investment to essential projects.
