HC Deb 23 September 1948 vol 456 c1057
1. Mr. J. H. Hare

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what decision he has made regarding the issue of petrol to local authority representatives as the result of conversations he has held with the County Councils Association.

The Minister of Fuel and Power (Mr. Gaitskell)

Discussions are still taking place.

Mr. Hare

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that very considerable hardship is being imposed upon local authority representatives, particularly those of county councils and rural district councils, and, in view of the great length of time which has already elapsed, will he take steps to see that some decision is given at a reasonably early date?

Mr. Gaitskell

I am most anxious that a decision should be reached on this subject, but it has been difficult to arrange meetings during the holiday period.
