§ Mr. EdenMay I ask the Leader of the House whether he will consider what action, if any, the Government should take to keep the House informed on the international situation during the period of Recess? We know very well that in the event of any grave development, such as we all hope will not take place, that, as we only adjourn, the House can be summoned; but from what the Foreign Secretary said yesterday, and still more from what we read in the papers this morning, it seems likely that some very full statement may be made by the Western Powers, perhaps accompanied by documents; and in view of the present newsprint shortage, cannot the Government consider, if that should happen, making a White Paper available with all the relevant information and documents, so that hon. Members may be able to study them before the House resumes?
§ Mr. H. MorrisonThe right hon. Gentleman will appreciate from what the Foreign Secretary said yesterday that I am in some difficulty, because it is difficult to prejudge the course of events. Discussions are taking place. One does not know when they will come to a definitive conclusion, but I think that the spirit of the request of the right hon. Gentleman is not unreasonable, and while I cannot give a firm promise, we will certainly take that request into sympathetic consideration.
