HC Deb 21 September 1948 vol 456 c677
20. Lieut.-Commander Clark Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when legislation will be introduced to facilitate the reciprocal enforcement of orders for aliment and maintenance in Scotland and England.

Mr. Woodburn

My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary and I are at present considering this matter but it is too early to make a statement.

Lieut.-Commander Hutchison

Would the right hon. Gentleman hold out any hope of legislation being introduced in the next Session?

Mr. Woodburn

I cannot anticipate what is likely to be mentioned in the King's Speech. Progress is being made in this matter and if the hon. and gallant Member will put down a Question after the House resumes, perhaps I will be able to say something.
