HC Deb 25 November 1948 vol 458 c1387
13. Mr. Hurd

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the jet engines supplied by this country to the Soviet Air Force were part of the machinery exchanged for coarse grains under the trade agreement with Russia; and if the supply of such equipment of potential use in war is being continued.

Mr. H. Wilson

No, Sir. Jet engines were not included in the Trade Agreement with Russia of December, 1947. Those supplied to Russia were exported under contracts signed in August, 1946, and March, 1947. There is no intention of licensing the supply of any more.
